Clay & Sweat
Last week I had the marvelous opportunity to go to the semi-finals day of the US Claycourt Championships 2017 in Houston, Tx.
It is the last remaining clay court tournament to be played on ATP level in the hard court dominating USA. Location is the upscale neighborhood of River Oaks in West Houston on the property of the exclusive River Oaks Country Club. The tournament typically takes place during Easter week and is an optimal preparation for the French Grand Slam the following month. Many players from Northern and Southern America were participating but also a few international names did light up. Most popular appearances this year were Feliciano Lopez (ESP), Fernando-Verdasco (ESP), Jack Sock (USA), John Isner (USA), and the never-retiring Tommy Haas (GER).
What follows are some impressions from the Houston ATP.
